Submission Guidelines

General Information

The Research forum is open to all delegates who are registered to attend the 24th ASEAN Congress of Anesthesiologists.

Competition categories are open to:

  • Residents in training or those who have graduated within 2 years prior to this convention (2023) with original research or case report.
  • Subspecialty Fellows in training with original research or case report.
  • Papers must not have been presented in any national or international scientific meeting prior to this ACA conference.

The presenting author (person who submits the abstract and who will present at the conference) must be involved in the completion of the research work. Presenters should be registered to attend the ACA convention by September 30, 2025.

The online submission system will be used to submit all papers. Abstracts must be submitted by July 30, 2025.

The research or case report abstract must not have been published as a full manuscript in any peer-reviewed journal, domestically or internationally, before the ACA conference. Please give us the courtesy of notification if your work will be accepted for publication after the submission deadline.

There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit. Each abstract must be submitted separately.

For multiple authors, only one author per abstract could be an active participant.

In case an author submitted multiple abstracts and has more than one paper qualifying for the oral presentation, a secondary investigator that has authorship eligibility must be assigned to present the other research.

Final instructions and complete mechanics will be sent to the qualified presenters during the notification deadline on August 22, 2025.

All other abstracts that will not be selected to present in the oral contest will be considered for poster exhibition. An email will be sent for notification.

Case reports will only be presented as a poster.

The organizing committee has the authority to decide if the abstract needs to be withdrawn.

Instruction

Language: English

Indicate the name of the primary author, all the other authors, the institution/s of affiliation, and the title of the research abstract.

The attachments should include:

  • The Portable Document Format (PDF) copy of an anonymized, 11-point Arial font, double spaced, A4 sized, and with 1” margin on all borders;
  • The IRB/ERC approval if the research involves human participants;

Structure:

  • Title: The title must be brief and accurately reflect the content of the Abstract and must be typed in boldface type and in title case.
  • Introduction: State the hypothesis or objective of the research in a simple manner; questions should be concrete and testable.
  • Methods: Describe the study design and the stepwise approach to what was done. Identify the research participants, primary and secondary measurements and outcomes, and the existing instruments or procedures.
    • For case reports, the Description of the Case replaces the Methods section.
  • Results: Use design-appropriate raw data to characterize the primary and secondary outcomes and include design-appropriate inferential or descriptive statistical indices. Tabulated or graphical representation of the result is encouraged. However, only one table or figure can be included per abstract and must be incorporated in the PDF submitted. The image must have a resolution of at least 300x300 pixels per inch. Submission of abstracts without data is not acceptable.
    • For case reports, a short Discussion replaces the Results section.
  • Conclusion: State a relevant and succinct summary that addresses the original research question or hypothesis.
  • Reference(s): Not more than 3-5 references are necessary. Use the Vancouver Citation Style.
  • Keywords: Include two to three keywords that describe the research question.

The identity of the author/s, their institution, or any identifying data should NOT BE MENTIONED anywhere in the title or body of the abstract.

The main body of the abstract should not exceed 600 words.

All drugs are to be identified consistently in the abstract by generic names.

IRB/ERC approval documentations must be attached to the abstract submission.

Notification of abstract acceptance:

Upon successful submission, authors will receive an acknowledgment via email by August 22, 2025. Lack of acknowledgment will indicate that the abstract was not received. Please get in touch with the PSA Secretariat for confirmation or any questions.

Plagiarism will be checked and will not be tolerated.

Once an abstract has been submitted, no further changes can be made to the results section, including the table or figure, as previously mentioned.

In case an author submitted multiple abstracts and has more than one paper qualifying for the oral presentation, a secondary investigator that has authorship eligibility must be assigned to present the other research.

An email notification will be sent by August 22, 2025 if you were accepted and to what category and format you have been invited for (Poster or Oral). It is the responsibility of the presenting author to share the notifications with their co-authors.
